October 12th Newsletter
Eastside Family,
Life has a way of shaking us. Sometimes it’s a health diagnosis we never expected, a financial burden we can’t see past, a relationship that breaks, or a season that feels like it’s unraveling. In Luke 21, Jesus speaks directly into those moments — and shows us how to stand when everything around us seems to fall apart.
The disciples were admiring the beauty and strength of the temple, a massive structure that seemed indestructible. Yet Jesus told them plainly, “Not one stone will be left upon another.” What felt secure to them would soon crumble — just as Jerusalem did in 70 A.D. That same reality is true for us: the things we trust most in this life can fall apart in a moment.
But Jesus didn’t leave His followers hopeless. Instead, He gave them — and us — four powerful truths to hold on to when the storms come:
1. Don’t Be Deceived
When we’re weak and hurting, the enemy loves to whisper lies and offer counterfeits. Jesus warned, “Take heed that ye be not deceived.” Stay grounded in God’s Word, seek wise counsel, and guard what influences your mind and heart.
2. Don’t Be Terrified
Jesus said, “Be not terrified.” Wars, chaos, and fear will always be part of this world — but none of it surprises God. If He led you to it, He will lead you through it. Your season of struggle is not the end of your story.
3. Testify Loudly
Hardship becomes the stage for your testimony. “It shall turn to you for a testimony,” Jesus said. When everything is crashing down, let your faith speak louder than your fear. Show the world that Jesus is real and that His grace sustains you.
4. Stand Firm
Even when betrayed, hated, or hurt, “not a hair of your head shall perish.” Your soul is secure in God’s hands. Stand when others walk away. Stand when you’re misunderstood. Stand when the world pushes back. Because what’s coming next is greater than what you’re facing now.
A Word for This Week
If your world feels like it’s falling apart, remember — this season will pass. God is not surprised by your circumstances, and He is not distant from your pain. Bring your burdens to Him. Stand firm in your faith. And let your testimony shine brightest in your darkest moments.
You’re not alone. You have a Savior who holds you and a church family who walks beside you.
Standing with you,
Pastor Chris
