Eastside Baptist Family,

This past Sunday we looked at one of the most sobering statements in Scripture — “Thou art not far from the Kingdom of God.”
In Luke 20, Jesus confronted people who were so close to the truth, yet still missed Him completely. They knew Scripture, they served in the temple, they looked religious — but their hearts were focused on the wrong things.

We saw how the Pharisees, Sadducees, and scribes each missed God because of misplaced focus. They wanted God on their terms, they were more concerned with religion than relationship, and they valued riches over sacrifice.

Then Jesus pointed to a poor widow who gave her last two mites and said, “She hath cast in more than they all.” God isn’t impressed by the size of our gifts or the length of our prayers — He looks at the heart.

Friend, it’s possible to be close to the truth and still far from transformation. The challenge this week is simple:
Let’s make sure our focus is on Jesus, not ourselves.
When you truly meet Him, He doesn’t change — you do.
